A masterpiece of Arab-Muslim architecture built on the sunlit shores of the Atlantic Ocean. With its majestic minaret rising 200 meters high — the tallest in the world — it is the largest mosque in Africa.

One of the city’s most distinctive signatures, these buildings were constructed at the beginning of the 20th century under the French Protectorate. Facing the Arab League Park, its architecture draws as much from the aesthetics of European Gothic cathedrals as from the Art Deco style. Today deconsecrated, it occasionally hosts cultural events.

Between the port and the seafront near the Hassan II Mosque, the old medina forms the historic quarter of Casablanca, dating back to before the French presence. It is the city’s oldest district, where one can still feel its authentic and traditional atmosphere.
